Surprises All Around!
April 27, 2009 - Print to web Print to Web
from the Guins, the Bucco's, and even Nascar. This weekend was full of surprises. The Guins disposed of the Flyers in 6 games... the surprise is that it wasn't 5 and they were shut out at home in game 5. Then all looked lost and I could shave my playoff beard on Tuesday as a loss in Game 6 would've been time for serious worry as the Flyers looked like the better team for much of the series. But Flower stood on his head, Talbot got his beat in, and the Guins rallied from a 3-0 defecit to win the game 5-3 and slam that final nail down in Filthadelphia and send the crowd home unhappy. Like they aren't anyway, it's Philly, they are never happy...ever.
The Buccos are in 2nd place. Winning big and dominating in the pitching. A total surprise to everyone but the people who actually believe the 'there's always next year.'
The nascar surprise is that hundreds of fans didn't die during the final lap of the race. Carl Edwards car was thrown airborne a reinforeced chain link fence stopped a 2 ton car from crushing hundreds of spectators. It was a site to see, especially as Carl climbed out of his car and raced towards the Talledega finish line ala Ricky Bobby. BTW 7 fans were injured during the awesome crash.
Warm Weather, Unhappy Philly fans, a winning baseball team, and a video game like crash all made for a great weekend.
