Sue's Clues on LifeTue, April 22, 2008 @ 11:40PM Did you know that financial debt can be very bad for your health? Rather, it's the stress of debt that can be bad for you! Get all of your bills paid off, and you will enjoy life better! There are Christian-based programs and financial advisers available to help you in this goal. Most Americans have way too much stuff, anyway! You probably do, too! And, we really don't need the most expensive items in the stores, either. Actually, sometimes you don't get what you pay for -- you just get ripped off! So, learn to shop smart! While you cut back on spending and enter the "temptation zone" (a store), just train you to ask yourself when tempted to purchase something: Is this something I really "need" or is this something I "want." Needs and wants are VERY different! If the answer is want, put it back on the shelf. Chances are, after you go home, you won't even think about that item again! Then, think of the money you saved that's in the bank, which can make you feel good, too! (J

Anointings by reportingsThu, May 15, 2008 @ 2:55PM Sometimes, we media types deserve the bashings we get. For instance, over the weekend, I managed to miss Indy 500 Pole Day qualifying. No problem. Go to the Internet, methought. Except every story led with the fact that Danica Patrick, the first woman to win an Indy car race, was fastest qualifier for 34 minutes before she got knocked off the pole. And after reading down and down and through the stories four or five times, I think Scott Dixon actually got the pole. Danica qualified in the middle of the second row. And Marco Andretti had a second shot at qualifying that the writer thought should have gone to his teammate, Danica Patrick. Oh, did we mention that Danica ran over a pit crew chief for another team Friday and the guy has a skull fracture and spent the weekend in the hospital? And that Danica cried a lot? When Ricky Rudd squashed one of Bill Elliott's crew members several years ago, nobody asked Ricky to cry on camera. Which g

Teen BOOTED from PromThu, May 15, 2008 @ 10:18AM In Texas a 17 year old about to graduate high school was handcuffed and removed from her Senior Prom. The problem started when the teen was told to go home and change her dress. The teen then refused and other options were taken by school officials. Notice the picture of the female in the yellow dress. That dress is the dress in question. You be the judge, is that too much skin? I think it is too much for a teen, but I do not think it is too much when I compare that dress to all the other "Post J-LO dresses" I have seen. You know the ones, the huge slit down the middle..... I will say one thing, this female had all the areas covered, unlike the J LO dress that leaves the whole middle section open like the Grand Canyon.

Harvesting Campaign SignsMon, April 28, 2008 @ 3:04PM Ohians should be happy the primary election is history. There was a chance of snow for the Ohio March 4 primary election. West Virginia won't see its primary until May 13. Ohio property owners saw the campaign yard signs come and go long before the grass turned green. West Virginia resident know the grass is green and it is growing like crazy. Many yards throughout the Northern Panhandle have at least a dozen candidate signs. It is a contest between dandelions and candidates. I pity the poor homeowner that can't say “no” to a candidate placing a sign in their yard. They must dread having to move and replant those signs every time the grass has to be cut. It is taking support for a candidate to the extreme to have to move those signs every time the grass is cut. Spring is the most beautiful time of the year and many homeowners take extra pride in blooming flowers, shrubs and trees. The campaign signs look like weeds in many a nice looking yard. Two more weeks and the harvesting of

Mayo, pleaseMon, May 12, 2008 @ 10:36AM I sure hope no one is surprised by the latest NCAA basketball allegations with departed USC freshman O.J. Mayo. A former associate of Mayo's, Louis Johnson, who apparently was seeking to cash in on the Mayo gravy train, spilled the beans on Mayo's relationship with Rodney Guillory. Apparently, Guillory, on behalf of Bill Duffy Associates (BDA), with whom Mayo officially signed as his agent, threw about $30K in cash, gifts, etc... toward Mayo in the past years. Oh, shock! If it's true or not, there's a lot of blame to go around here. 1) Mayo 2) Johnson 3) Guillory 4) BDA 5) USC 6) NBA 7) NCAA 1. Mayo knows the difference from right and wrong, but what teenager is not going accept all this stuff? Come on, he was ruled ineligible by OHSAA and promptly transfered to Huntington High School in West Virginia (where he was born) and won a state title his senior year. Mayo is used to being told he is the best and nobody can touch him. 2) Johnson sa

What happened in Vegas?Mon, May 12, 2008 @ 12:49PM My first review for the week is the latest box office release: What Happens in Vegas, starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. Before the review, allow me to inform you that I am now on a 10 point scale, with 10 being the best. For returning readers, that means Iron Man was a solid 10. What Happens in Vegas had a lot going for it including a seasoned cast and a decent script; however, there was something off in its delivery. As a romantic comedy, it's humor was mostly wasted in the trailer. Those of you going to see something funny, just watch the commercial a dozen times. Those looking for something romantic may be pleased. There were people crying in the theater. I, myself, am not sure why. It was "romantic" in a "sweet" way. There isn't a lot of lusting or sentiment, just moments that result in awkward closeness and self-realization. You know, like a real relationship. Maybe...moving on. Kutcher is getting older, but his acting just keeps getting bet

Voters - ya gotta love 'emMon, May 5, 2008 @ 12:05PM Is anyone else around here under the impression that every criminal and wanna-be criminal from throughout Jefferson County car pooled to the voting polls this past year? No, seriously. They had to have. Because we can’t possibly have that many insane people around here say to themselves, "We need a place for dogs and cats, but not for felons." So now, as a result of this lovely display of intellect, whenever someone feels the need to steal something from a dollar store (although why anyone would want to steal something from a DOLLAR store in the first place is beyond total comprehension,) opts to drive under the influence of alcohol for the umpteenth time, gets caught using or selling drugs, or simply feels like beating the crap out of their spouse or small child, you know what they’re going to get? A vacation. An inexpensive, freakin’ vacation. Will wonders ever cease? These "criminals" will only pay around $250 in fines (which is the price for one night in a reall

More car woesFri, May 16, 2008 @ 5:41PM I was thinking about my mechanic, Gerry, today as I was pumping gas. Gerry owns Wellsburg Tire and Collision on Washington Pike in Wellsburg, and I drive all the way from Weirton to have my oil changed there because I trust Gerry not to rip me off. Now, sometimes, I think he short changes himself by giving me better deal than I deserve, but I haven't quite figured out what to do about that. The reason I was thinking about him was the lecture I recieved on getting my oil changed regularly and having the tires rotated by a professional mechanic whom I can trust. Gerry gave me this lecture, explaining my gas mileage will be much better if I have the oil changed and the tires rotated. He then had to explain what it means to have my tires rotated. I was thinking about this because it is actually cheaper to buy gas in Pennsylvania now than it is in West Virginia. I have been making a habit of never buying gas in Pennsylvania, because it was always 10 cents cheaper on this sid

The "Man of My Dreams"Thu, May 15, 2008 @ 3:37PM Good afternoon, Pirates fans and foes alike! I had purposefully waited to blog again until my favorite "Boys of Summer" got to .500 baseball. But, it seems everytime we are even close, we can't seem to pull it off. We lost another opportunity last night, losing 5-1 against the St. Louis Cardinals. I have attended five games thus far this season with one commonality...RAIN. I've had seats in the Lexus Club TWICE and in sections 30 and 120. No matter where I sat, I either ended up indoors or under cover. Who knew that Mother Nature WAS NOT a Pittsburgh Pirates fan!!! I attended the Lady Bucs event on Wednesday, May 7 only to be disappointed that I couldn't get near any of the pampering or food tables 'cause over 100 ladies were crowded under the tent to avoid getting drenched before the game. On Mother's Day, although I enjoyed a delightful Brunch and a delicious Bloody Mary with my husband and a friend (yes, foes, there are many more reasons to visit PNC Park t
