We often talk about how much we would like to see more members of our community get involved, and about how much could be done to improve situations in Weirton, but I often wonder how much of it is really meant by those saying the words and how much is just talk. We had a perfect opportunity this weekend to truly come together and celebrate the community, and from where I stood, there is still room for improvement. The city's Independence Day parade was held Saturday, and while there were a great deal of people lining Main Street to watch, it just seems as if it used to be bigger, even just within the last 10 years or so. I am in no way blaming the organizers for this, because they can only line up those who want to participate and they can't force people to stand and watch.
