Jury convicts Cleveland firefighter in triple murder

May 17, 2008

CLEVELAND (AP) — A jury Thursday rejected a defense claim that a city firefighter who was angered by people shooting off loud fireworks in his neighborhood simply snapped when he went on a killing spree.

Terrance Hough Jr. was convicted of all charges in the shooting deaths of three people and the wounding of two others still celebrating Independence Day just after midnight on July 5.

The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court jury began deliberating Wednesday and returned three aggravated murder and two attempted murder convictions a day later. The jury was directed to return Tuesday to hear evidence on whether to recommend the death sentence.

Hough, 36, killed Jacob Feichtner, who lived next door to Hough, as well as Feichtner’s friends, Katherine Rosby and Bruce Anderson.

Hough stared forward, showing no emotion, when the verdict came in. There was a brief gasp and cheer from the courtroom gallery, which included family members of the victims.
