It is no secret that public service unions have been and continue to bankrupt cities, counties, & states as we see in Detroit, Chicago,California, New York State, & Illinois. The taxpayers are footing the bill for Cadillac unions while they themselves pay into their own pensions or have Ford Edsel retirement plans. Why should the commoner pay for the public sectors extravagant luxury union plans?

It is also no secret that the Steubenville City Police has had nearly eighty years of corruption and the union is the representation of their reputation. The recent Steubenville Big Red football " Rape Crew " case exposes many lapses in time, investigation, and unwillingness to protect the least vulnerable against a crime so horrific as rape. All to protect the high school football winning season.

The crime in " Da Ville " is akin to Pittsburgh's violent Hill District with Steubenville having a population of about 18,500.

The public has every right to be included in these meetings, seeing that taxpayer money pays the salaries and benefits of these workers. It sounds like a lot of assumptions are being made by the union leaders that may not actually be true. Who knows, maybe someone in attendance at the town hall meeting may actually have a solution which may improve the situation.
