Be patient with city’s road work

April 27, 2008
Weirton Daily Times
Road construction is always difficult to deal with, but it becomes increasingly moreso when the construction is taking place on a roadway regularly used by hundreds, if not thousands, of vehicles each and every day.

It is, however, something that must take place and requires some of the greatest depths of patience possible by the human spirit.

During the last few years, our areaás residents have dealt with construction for a widening project along several stretches of Pennsylvania Avenue. Now, work is beginning on Penco Road in an attempt to make improvements there.

We know this is a major inconvenience to motorists who regularly drive through this area, as well as the many businesses located along the road, but we also hope those who are affected will try to be patient and understand the goals of this project.

The work required will probably take several months to complete, and will force many of us to take different routes and additional time to arrive at our destinations. There will be traffic stopped and backed up in some areas to try and safely get motorists and construction workers to where they need to go. And then, of course, there will be the dreaded orange cones set up everywhere that the eyes can see. When it is over, though, the roads will be in better condition and safer to drive on, and thatás what is really important.
