Three arrested after traffic stop in Weirton

The Weirton Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested three individuals on prescription drug charges and marijuana charges, Thursday.

Following a traffic stop, two individuals were found in possession of marijuana and prescription Xanex. Officers also located an imitation Glock handgun in the driver’s door. Both subjects were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance.

Subsequent to these arrests, officers performed a consent search of a residence located at 4117 Washington St. During this search, officers located prescription Xanex and Oxycontin bottles which they believe were being sold. One individual was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and one other subject is facing future charges.

The names of the individuals are not being released at this time because of an ongoing investigation.
