WMC?Auxiliary set ‘Baskets Galore’

The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary board met on May 13 in the administrative board room. President Jeannie Duffy conducted the business meeting.

The auxiliary prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were recited by the membership followed by a moment of silence in memory of Fred Hawrot, husband of Joan Hawrot; James Goldsmith, husband of Patricia Goldsmith; Lois Goresh, sister of Dolly Brown; Charlotte McCloskey, mother of Joan York; and Dominica (Tom) Brancazio, brother of Minnie Malloy.

Administrator Lisa Conti gave an update on a new development in the ER entrance, and the addition of another “WMC Weapons in Infection Control” that has been installed in the lobby.

Sondra Weigel, reporting for Louise Herman, recording secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting. Beth DiGregorio, corresponding secretary, reported get well cards were sent to Mel Vorhees and Barbara Howell.

Howell, treasurer, gave the financial status of the auxiliary. Paula Billick, assistant treasurer, reminded members that dues are due.

The following service reports were given: Rose Ulizio, reporting for Phil Troia, clergy; Margaret and John Patton, coffee cart; Barbara Cameron, gift cart, reported a new volunteen, Molly Cline, is working on the cart.

Barbara Tunno, gift shop, reported on a meeting with gift shop volunteers; DiGregorio, surgical desk escorts; Lorraine Manger, magazine cart; Alma Wansack reported for Margaret Ashbee, mail; Elda Weekley, Publicity/Newsletter; Jenne Fetty, telephone; and Margaret Patton, volunteens.

Special reports were given by: Flo Jonczak and Ulizio, birth certificates/health education; Katy Rosohac, record of hours; Wansack, remembrance fund; Howell, gift shop; Mary Lou Batcho, innovative project; and Ulizio, “Mrs. Bubble” program.

Batcho and Tunno reported on “Baskets Galore.” The gift baskets will be on display in the WMC Atrium from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 2 to 6. Tickets for the 50/25/25 drawing will also be available. Drawings will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6. Winner need not be present.

Unfinished business: Duffy reported the Mother’s Day flower sale. Weigel reported that an orientation was held with 6 new volunteens and one new volunteer, Jack Cassella, who is now in training. There will be 4 volunteers Duffy, Tunno, Weigel and Weekley attending the AWVHA Spring Workshop from May 19 to 21 at the Cannan Valley Resort.

New Business: Election of officers was conducted. President Barbara Tunno; Vice President Beth DiGregorio; Recording Secretary Sondra Weigel; Corresponding Secretary Peg Sweeney; Treasurer Barbara Howell; and Assistant Treasurer Paul Billick.

Installation of officers will be held on Tuesday, July 15 during our annual meeting in recognition of all volunteers and volunteens.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 17.
