The Weirton Knights of Columbus Council No. 3734 will be holding a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Council Home.
All members are invited to attend to discuss the future of the council and the Columbian Club.

Oak Glen Middle boosters to meet
The Oak Glen Middle School Boosters will be holding its October meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the school library.
All parents are welcome to attend.
International Credit Union Day event set
When they gather to celebrate their achievements on Saturday, Oct. 11, members of the Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter of the West Virginia Credit Union League will be continuing a long tradition.
The Chapter members and guests will kick off International Credit Union Week with a gala dinner-dance at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Williams Country Club in Weirton.
Kenneth R. Watts, President of the West Virginia Credit Union League, Inc., will speak at the banquet. Watts has offices in Parkersburg, W. Va., and is an accomplished speaker.
Watts has headed the credit union league since 1989. A native of Huntington, Watts is a 1974 graduate of Marshall University. The league he heads is the state trade association representing the interests of 111 member credit unions.
Weirton's John B. Sorrenti will serve as toastmaster. A radio sportscaster for 40 years, and later host of a sports talk show, golf enthusiast John was inducted into the Weir High School Wall of Fame. Known for his humorous stories, Sorrenti also is a former Hancock County Commissioner. Presently, he is training manager of MTR Gaming.
This year's ICU observance has the theme of "It Belongs To Me."
More than 170 million members in 97 countries belong to thousands of credit unions like those in the Weirton-Wellsburg chapter. Janet Stagani is chapter president.
Country Friends meet Monday and?Friday
Country Friends have planned events and jam sessions each Monday at the Get Together Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek Road. Open Mic is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. These are covered dish events and the public is invited to attend and participate.
