Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Shepherd

EAST SPRINGFIELD — An open house will be held from 1-4 p.m. today at the East Springfield Fire Department Social Hall, county Road 39, in honor of the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Shepherd. Shepherd, son of the late John K. and Francis I. Shepherd, and the former Patricia J. Mathes, daughter of the late J. Ross and Lena O. Mathes, were married Oct. 16, 1948, at LaBelle Methodist Church in Steubenville by the Rev. Charles Albright. They are members of Christ United Methodist Church in East Springfield. Shepherd is retired from the Ohio Power Co. with 40 years of service. He is active in the community and local area as a member of the East Springfield Ruritans and the East Springfield Fire Department. He also is a member and director of the Richmond Lions Club and director of the East Springfield Community Center. His wife is a member of the church Women’s Fellowship and is a founding member of the Spring Hills Ladies Golf Associaton. They have two children: Cindy of East Springfield and Bob of Richmond. Two grandchildren complete their family.
