Zion to celebrate annual homecoming

Zion United Church of Christ, 139 N. Fifth St., will celebrate its annual Harvest Homecoming Oct. 26, beginning with a continental breakfast at 10 a.m. followed by a special worship service at 11 a.m. The new interim pastor, the Rev. Vaughn Foster, will be introduced during the service. There will be a noon baked swiss steak dinner featuring seasonal favorites, including homemade pumpkin and apple pies. Harry Williams will be master of ceremonies. Planning committee members are Marie Brobston, Debbie DiCarlo, John Diekmann, Bertha Edgar, Carol Rabe, Betty Sparr, LaDonna Weinman and Jeff Knauff, chairman. John Diekmann will lead group singing accompanied by Charles Maffett. Entertainment will be provided by the Four Friends: Bob Burns, George Allan, Paul Visyak and Jody Glaub. Anyone interested in attending the event can contact the church office at (740) 282-1793 as soon as possible for reservations. Nazarene missonaries to speak David and Carolita Fraley, global missionaries with the Church of the Nazarene assigned to France, will speak at the Steubenville Church of the Nazarene, 511 Woodlawn Road, Thursday at a 7 p.m. deputation service. The Fraleys have served in France since the beginning of their missionary career in 1979. They were one of the pioneer missionary couples who opened the work of the church in that country. The couple have been involved in starting church ministries since their arrival in France. They have pastored three new churches and helped with other church starts. He was one of the founders of “Athletes in Action” in France and has served many years on its national board. They live in Montpellier, France, where they are starting the church in the Midi region of France. God’s Quad Quartet to perform The God’s Quad Quartet will present a concert Sunday at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2305 state Route 213. The quartet has been singing southern gospel music since it was formed after a high school minstrel show in the 1980s. God’s Quad has performed with or opened for nationally known southern gospel groups, including the Kingsmen, the Anchormen, Greater Vision and Ivan Parker. The Experience to visit Brentwood The Experience, a multi-denominational outreach ministry that includes live music, drama, lights and comedy, will present a program at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 148 Stephens St., Wintersville, Sunday at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the service. Mount Carmel program planned The Women’s Ministry of the Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church, 708 N. Fifth St., will present “Women of the Bible” Sunday at 4 p.m. An offering will be accepted, and refreshments will be served after the program. For information, call the church at (740) 282-9257. Ruth Stinson, evangelist, is the ministry leader. Northmen to present concert The Northmen will present a gospel concert at the Carrollton Bible Chapel, 365 Steubenville Road, S.E., Carrollton, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. A love offering will be received. Teen singer-songwriter to perform Lauren Mascitti, a 16-year-old singer, songwriter, musician and dancer, will present a concert Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at Buena Vista Methodist Church, Schenley and Kingston avenues. An offering will be taken and refreshments will be served after the concert. Mascitti has performed concerts throughout Ohio and appeared on the Inspiration Network Television in Charlotte, N.C. She was among the top eight performers in this year’s Inspiration Network Christian Artist Talent Search. Fall revival set in Wheeling, Weirton A fall revival and crusade will be held at Bethlehem Apostolic Temple, 330 Main St., Wheeling, Wednesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday and at 9 a.m. Oct. 26 at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly, 30000 Weir Ave., Weirton. Guest speaker will be Elder Harvey L. Hale of Albuquerque, N.M.
