DIMIT, Richard J. “Dick,” 82, of Santa Barbara, Calif., formerly of Steubenville, Ohio, died October 23, 2008. Dick was born in Steubenville, on December 1, 1925, the son of the late F. Scott and Grace Johnson Dimit. Dick was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church, Steubenville. He graduated from Steubenville High School and went on to receive his B.S. degree from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in architecture from M.I.T. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Dick joined the Los Angeles firm of Adrian Wilson Associates in 1955 and retired after 20 years of service attaining the level of president. The firm was responsible for building Air Force bases and Naval bases in Viet Nam and the Philippines. His career spanned the years from 1946-1975. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Dimit and Frank S. Dimit Jr. Survived by a niece, Sandra (Richard) Ranallo of Steubenville; and nephews, Richard (Cindy) Dimit of Oklahoma City, Okla., Andrew (Nancy) Dimit of Sterling, Colo., and Thomas Dimit of Toledo, Ohio. Private graveside services were held in Union Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Elliott officiating.
