Credit union awards five scholarships
First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union has named its "People Helping People" Scholarship recipients. Each recipient will receive $1,000.
The five recipients for 2009 listed in alphabetical order are:
A graduate of Oak Glen High School, Jeffrey Paul Davis attends West Virginia University where he is a Pre-Pharmacy major. He is the son of Jeff and Cindy Davis of New Cumberland.
Robert J. Guy, a graduate of Wheeling Park High School, plans to pursue a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University. Guy is the son of Robert E. and Cheryl Guy of Wheeling.
The third recipient, Carrie James, is a graduate of Oak Glen High School and attends West Virginia University where she is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. James resides in New Manchester with her parents Ronald and Susan James.
Lauren McIntosh, a graduate of Oak Glen High School, attends West Liberty University where she majors in Pre-Nursing. She is the daughter of Bart and Tammie McIntosh of Newell.
Danielle Scarpone is the fifth recipient. She was home schooled and attends Cedarville University, where she is pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree. She is the daughter of Michael and Dina Scarpone of Bloomingdale, Ohio.
Lorna Meador, secretary of the Credit Union's Education Committee, said, "The 'People Helping People' Scholarships are open to high school and college students who are primary members of the First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union. Grade point average, scholastic achievements, and community involvement are considered in awarding the scholarships.
Applications with complete guidelines for the next school year will be available this October at any of the Credit Union's eight office locations."
