Riverfest seeks artists
A?new festival is coming to New Cumberland at the end of the month. The New Cumberland Parade and Festival Committee will be hosting its first Riverfest along River Avenue in downtown New Cumberland.
The festival will be held on Sept. 26 and 27. The site overlooks the Ohio River and will feature more than 30 vendors and organizations, a classic car show, live music and fireworks.
The Hancock County Arts Council invites local artists of all mediums: watercolors, oils, photography, mixed media, pottery, stained glass, ceramics and more to display their work.
Riverfest is an opportunity for the council to showcase local talent. This summer the group, in conjunction with the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, sponsored several outdoor concerts.
The council will have a tent at the show and each artist is asked to submit a piece with a short biography. Artists who would like to offer their art for sale are asked to include the price.
Published authors and musicians are also invited to showcase their talents in the tent.
The council will also be selling a framed, 16 X 10 print of the New Cumberland Presbyterian Church painted by local artist Jim Watson.
