Members of the community gathered in Marland Heights Park Saturday for the Rotary Club of Weirton's Oktoberfest event.
Those who made it out in the rain were able to get a taste of Germany with traditional food and drinks. Menu's were placed on each table and posted around the pavilion as the German Umpa band set up in a tent several feet away.
Rotarians from both the Weirton Club and the Weirton Heights Club attended to assist with the event by serving food and welcoming oncomers.
"We're glad people decided to come out for the event," stated Ed Powell.
The funds raised from the event are set to go toward the club's annual scholarship fund.
During the Rotary Club of Weirton's meeting on Wednesday at Williams Country Club, members will welcome LuxmiH, pronounced "Lucks Me", an author who has travelled the world and teaches special workshops on "Sould Adventure Tours".

As a result of being a global citizen she communicates in seven languages and is listed in Who's Who of Women Executives and Who's Who in International Women.
LuxmiH teaches workshops on positively creating in this Design-A-Universe. Her topic on Wednesday will be "Plug In Power." Apart from being a teacher and coach LuxmiH leads other adventurous souls on Soul Adventure Tours, such as swimming with free range dolphins in the open ocean.
LuxmiH has had the experience of being a refugee and losing everything she owned three times, to living a what she calls a "freedom loving, fun-filled, fulfilled, prosperous, successful, creative life."
LuxmiH, has been published in International magazines, and her interviews of self-help celebrities have been published on line by BeingMagazine.com and she is published in the book "I Am A Miracle," along with authors such as Mark Victor Hansen, author of "Chicken Soup for The Soul." Furthermore LuxmiH worked as a script writer for Learning Strategies on one of their paraliminal meditation CD's.
LuxmiH has had many mentors and teachers but states she feels particularly blessed to have an Avatar Spiritual Master who guides her adventurous soul towards greater expansion from being a global citizen to Being Universal.
