Dozens of area residents gathered at the Weirton Municipal Building Tuesday, but it wasn't to discuss the latest hot topic to go before city leaders.
The City of Weirton played host Tuesday to area business representatives as part of the Business After Hours program held by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce.
It was the first Business After Hours hosted by the city. The events usually are held at a different area business each month.
Weirton Chamber President Brenda Mull said she felt it was a unique opportunity to work with the city on a Business After Hours program.
"We're truly pleased to be able to with on a Business After Hours with them," Mull said.
As part of the event, those in attendance had the opportunity to talk to city officials, including members of council and department heads, to learn more about municipal operations, as well as tour the municipal building, Weirton Millsop Community Center and Weirton Fire Department.
"There are always questions about what we do," Mayor Mark Harris said.
Ward 3 Councilman Fred Marsh noted between the seven members of council and the mayor, five of them are businesspeople.
"We understand what you're going through," Marsh said. "We hope you understand what we're going through."
The Business After Hours program is held by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce as an opportunity to to allow area businesspeople to meet and network outside of the regular business atmosphere.
