CWU UNICEF Tag Day set for Friday

Church Women United President Carol Village presided over the Oct. 2, Executive Board Meeting at First Methodist Church.

A fall theme was carried out in the table decorations. Hostesses for the fellowship coffee hour were women from First Methodist, Carol Kennedy, Barb Lework, Alma Oberg, Mary Householder and Shirley Cool.

Oberg read Hebrews 10:18-25 as devotions, closing with the poem, "What God Hath Promised."

Olivia Carter, first vice president, gave the blessing.

The Fellowship of the Least Coin was read by Householder, "Into the Unknown with God at out Side," about Ruth and Naomi.

Jeanette Wetzel spoke of the Weirton Christian Center's need for help with after-school meals.

Reports were given by Carol Skerbetz, interim recording secretary; Jo Ann Morrison, treasurer; Eldora Conner, "Voice"?Magazine; Delores Campbell, telephone; Isobel Bell, publicity; and Diane Pastoric, Citizen Action, announced that the project will be collecting snacks for the Dunbar Recreation Center.

Kennedy reported 27 migrant health kits were donated from the Weirton unit to the State Assembly at Mineral Springs, W.Va. The theme was "Building Blocks." Carter also attended.

World Community Day is slated for 11 a.m. on Nov. 6 at Colliers United Methodist Church, located at 318 Pennsylvania Ave. in Colliers. This year's theme will be "Piecing Earth Together."

Carter is WCD?coordinator, assisted by Morrison. Practice is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 with the choir practicing at 11 a.m. Wadeanne Nardo is the music coordinator.

Carter distributed "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" collection boxes. Tag Day will be held throughout Weirton on Friday. Donations provide clean water, immunizations against measles, nutrition assistance, school supplies and more for children around the world.

The CWU?Christmas Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 4 at the Oakland Presbyterian Church on Wylie Ridge Road in Weirton.

"A?Circle of Prayer"?was formed with the singing of the Doxology and the meeting was closed.
