PV Methodist Women discuss mission giving
The monthly meeting of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Women (UMW) was held on Sept. 28. Dee Campbell, president, presided and opened the meeting with the reciting of "The Purpose."
Betty Shaw led devotions, explaining Yom Kippur and reading Bible verses on the subject.
Campbell led the program on mission giving. She explained where much of the money the group collects is distributed. Mary Webb read of two individuals that United Methodist Women support.
Minutes were read by Lynn Leach, secretary, and the treasurer's report was given by Webb. Committee chairmen shared their reports.
The annual meeting of UMW was held on Oct. 9 and 10 in Vienna, W.Va. A?report will be provided at the October meeting.
A?report was given regarding a program presented at Christ United Methodist Church in Wheeling about UMW's worldwide activities.
The Church Women United's Board Meeting was held on Oct. 2 at First United Methodist Church (see feature above).
The annual Fall Festival and community dinner that was scheduled for Oct. 8 was discussed.
Nominations for officers for next year were spoken. Following a discussion, it was decided that the same slate of officers will remain for the coming year.
Vivian Tarr and Betty Shaw were hostesses for the evening. The meeting was closed with prayer by the Rev. Judy Jerman.
