POSTED: October 26, 2009
MINGO JUNCTION?— Mingo Junction Harmony United Methodist Women held its October meeting in the church’s social hall with Mary Joy VanDyne presiding and leading the Lord’s Prayer
Valerie Arnold, Mary Freiling and Edna Thompson were guests.
Devotions were read by Ginny Howell entitled “Just Pray.” Chris Davis had the Least Coin and Mission Moments and read a story about a widow’s offering.
Howell had the program on the topic, “Forms of Prayer.”
Howell said everything that increases one’s awareness of God is prayer, thus everything that is done in one’s daily prayer time is prayer.
Facts about Christopher Columbus also were discussed in honor of Columbus Day.
The program closed with a group recital of Psalm 100.
Discussions were held on various issues, including sending money to Urban Missions for three Thanksgiving baskets, sending fruit baskets to shut-ins for Thanksgiving and Christmas, making gift bags for Urban Missions and stockings for the soldiers.
Other topics included church adoption of a family at Christmas, nomination of Mary Joy VanDyne for the 5-Star pin and information about the coat program for Urban Missions.
Hostess was Chris Davis. Pam Pietro will be the leader for November’s meeting with Lillian Criss and Vernie Davis as hostesses.
