CHESTER - Area residents and business representatives got a glimpse of what the top of West Virginia has to offer as part of the annual Top of West Virginia Showcase, held Tuesday at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort.
The event was hosted by the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau and also served as a Business After Hours for the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce.
"With the economy the way it is, we still had 50 vendors," CVB Executive Director Dan Greathouse said. "We're happy with it."
The showcase originally was put together several years ago as a way to feature some of the businesses and groups located in Hancock County. More recently, the event has been opened up to include Brooke County representatives as well as the CVB has ventured into promoting more of the area.
Area businesses and organizations participating included First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, the Serbian American Cultural Center, Mystic Mountain Crafts, the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, representatives of the Wellsburg Applefest, First Class Tour Group and Tri-State Medical.
Participating vendors also provided a giveaway item to be included in a prize drawing during the evening.
