Reading Council holds appreciation dinner
The Brooke County Reading Council held its annual appreciation dinner at the Station Grille.
Honored for their support of the groups efforts to promote literacy were the following schoolteachers: Kim Rager of Colliers Primary School, Linda Miller of Beech Bottom Primary School, Sandy Baldauf and Robyn Heaton, both of Wellsburg Primary School; and Debbie Rea of Jefferson Primary School.
The councils officers are Maryann Ehle and Sharon Cuomo, co-presidents; Carolyn Forrester and Carla Bensie, co-presidents; Jenny K. Stucin, treasurer; Elaine Merriner, membership chairman; and Shirley Cuomo, secretary.
The group also celebrated its 12th Anniversary. Over the years it has been involved in various literacy programs for children, including A History of the Underground Railroad through Quilts, Newspapers in Education and A Picnic with Books, often in partnership with the Brooke County Public Library.
