Melvin ‘Mel’ Hayes

HAYES, Melvin "Mel", 79 of Shangra La Lane Wellsburg, died November 12, 2009 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born May 28, 1930 in Brooke County, WV, son of the late Virgil and Adrian Wilson Hayes.

He was retired from Eagle Manufacturing as a tool and die maker with 40 plus years of service. He was protestant by faith. Melvin was a Army veteran during the Korean War and a member of the Wellsburg American Legion post 34.

In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brother Bernard Hayes.

He is survived by his wife Marie Anna Lish Hayes whom he married Oct. 1965. Also 2 brothers Mahlon "Buddy" Hayes, and David Hayes both of Wellsburg, 5 sisters Betty Bowers of Wilmot, OH. Florence Carpico and her husband Ben of Belmont, OH., Helen Postlethwait, Mona Faye Walden, and Donna Miller and her husband Bernie, all of Wellsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation Saturday Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m. only at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles Street Wellsburg. The family invites friends to attend graveside services Sunday Nov. 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Franklin Cemetery Wellsburg with Joy Leasure officiating.
