Hunters target local hunger program

November 17, 2009

It's November, and the area is in the midst of deer season. The Community Bread Basket of Weirton will again benefit from the 2009 hunt.

Chris Grishkevich, owner of the H & H Deer Shop, located at 2411 Eldersville Road in Follansbee, has, again this year, agreed to process deer at a reduced cost to benefit the CBB.

All a hunter has to do is bring the deer to H & H Deer Shop and report that the deer is to be donated to the CBB. There will be no cost to the hunter. A CBB volunteer will pick up and deliver the processed deer meat.

For information about deer processing is (304) 374-0634.

The Weirton Urban Bowhunters Association is making a considerable contribution to CBB in an effort to offset the cost of the deer processing fees.

Senator Edwin Bowman, an avid hunter himself, has contributed $1,000 from his re-election fund to assist in the effort.

Tara Shepard, CBB director, reports that many of the recipients of the food distribution conducted by CBB look forward to receiving the seasonal venison.
