ATKINSON, Rachel “Eva” McClave, 95, of Bloomingdale, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, November 15, 2009, at The Laurels of Steubenville. She was born in Bergholz, Ohio, on November 8, 1914, a daughter of the late R. William and Sarah Donaldson McClave. Rachel was a homemaker and a member of Finley United Methodist Church, where she was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School until the age of 88. She was valedictorian of Bergholz High School Class of 1932. She was a Red Cross volunteer and instructor for many years. She was the best mom and grandma ever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raymond “Bus” Atkinson; her son, George “Jerry” Atkinson and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Urick and Ricky Davis. Surviving are three sons, John (Shelly) Atkinson of Kent, Ohio, Rev. Paul (Lynda) Atkinson of Jeromesville, Ohio and Richard Atkinson of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Kay (Rev. Delbert) Lash with whom she resided, Gayle Monroe of Steubenville, Ohio and Mary Margaret “Peggy” Skipper of Toronto, Ohio; sister, Wilma “Billie” Fidoe of Canton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Betty Atkinson of Toronto, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends may call at Dunlope- Shorac Funeral Home 215 Fernwood Rd., Winters ville, OH Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at Finley United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial in Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
