Christian church announces food distribution

The First Christian Church, located at 3252 Main St. in Weirton, announced a Thanksgiving "fixin's" food distribution will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday.

The distribution will be accomplished on a first-come, first-served basis and does not include turkeys.

Wellness Center accepting LIHEAP

The Hancock County Senior Wellness Center is assisting seniors in need receiving help with the cost of heating their homes.

The regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program begins Dec. 7 and concludes Dec. 18. The center offers help to new applicants only. Previous recipients receive their renewal applications through the U. S. Mail.

Management club to meet

The Weirton Steel Management Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Gio's Family Restaurant in the banquet room.

The guest speaker for the evening will be George Lacik discussing "New Updates on Health Insurance for Management Employees for 2010."

All members and former members are invited to attend. Dinner and social will be shared.

Rebekahs vote to have ramp built

The Colliers Naomi Rebekah Lodge 42 met with Noble Grand Marilyn Tallman and Vice Grand Myrtle Thompson as hostesses.

The sick were noted; cards are to be sent and visits made.

A letter was read inviting the Rebekahs to the occasion of Mary Ann Folmar receiving the Meritorious Service Jewel, along with Brother Harless at the Adamston United Methodist Christ Church in Clarksburg, W.Va.

November is Rebekah Education Month. Applications are being accepted at this time, and contributions are needed and appreciated. A?student from West Virginia University was approved for a grant so far this term.

The sisters voted to have McMasters Construction Company build a ramp into the lodge.

Thompson and Mildred Richter reported on the Assembly that was held at Flatwoods, W.Va.

Star of the Valley Lodge 73 invited the Naomi sisters to their Christmas Party on Dec. 11. Anyone attending is asked to bring a wrapped $5 gift.

DDP?Carol Schoolcraft said the District 1 Convention will be held May 22 in Wheeling. More information will come as the date approaches.

Marsha Daughtery won the 50/50 drawing.

Anyone interested in joining the Rebekahs can contact any member.

The next meeting is at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. No refreshments will be served that evening.
