FLORAK LECTURES: Edward Florak, retired president of Jefferson Community College, will present the first of four lectures aimed toward better harmony and productivity in the workplace.
The talk, “Why Men Don’t Ask Questions and Why Women Don’t Use Road Maps!” is the first of four presentations by Florak planned by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
The humor-filled talk will be presented from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Dec. 3 in the Pugliese Training Center of Eastern Gateway Community College.
EARNS DOCTORATE: David Quattrochi, superintendent of the Edison Local Schools, recently earned a doctorate in educational leadership studies with a minor in technology education from West Virginia University. Quattrochi successfully defended his dissertation on Ohio’s Value-Added Model.
Quattrochi is the son of Gino Quattrochi, former Toronto City Schools superintendent, and the late Dolores Quattrochi. He has a son Angelo and resides in Richmond.
FUNDS RAISED: The Harrison County 4-H is benefitting from $1,000 raised by the Modern Woodmen of America’s St. Clairsville chapter.
Tim Conrad of Modern Woodmen said the money was raised through a spaghetti dinner held Oct. 25 and includes $500 matched by the home office of Modern Woodmen through its matching fund program. The money will be used for educational supplies.
The matching fund program provides camp members nationwide the opportunity to support community causes, organizations or individuals in need by matching money raised up to $2,500. The fund-raising projects contribute more than $6 million to community needs nationwide each year.
Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the nation.
NEW LOCATION: Blue Ribbon Wedding and Events Center has moved to 339 Main St. in Wintersville, the corner of Main Street and Leonard Avenue.
The center offers wedding and prom services. The new location allows expanded space for greater service and convenience to customers. New vendors and some unique services are planned to become part of the center in December.
A grand opening will be held Dec. 5.
LAWYER EDUCATION: A 2.5-hour continuing legal education credit course, ACTL Ethics, will be offered for area attorneys on Dec. 2 at Eastern Gateway Community College.

TRIBOLOGISTS MEET: The Upper Ohio Valley Section of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers will meet Dec. 2 in the White Palace at Wheeling Park, 1801 National Road, Wheeling.
The social hour begins with a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, at $15 per person with guests free, starts at 7 p.m.
The speaker, Robert Petty of BADE Inc. of Irwin, Pa., will offer his talk on compressors and compressor lubricants beginning at 8 p.m.
