RAIMOND, Frank James “Jim,” 78, died Monday morning, November 23, 2009, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville. Jim was born on October 23, 1931, in Newell, a son of the late Frank and Marie Costa Raimond. Following graduation from Wells High School in 1949, Jim served our country with the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller during the Korean War, coming home afterwards to run Jimmy’s Esso on 1st Street in Chester. He later worked for many area auto dealerships as a salesman, ending up as part owner of the former Mark Motors in East Liverpool. A proud veteran, Jim served as Post Commander of the Midland VFW Post 8168 for 13 years, stepping down last year. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Jerome Raimond; two sisters, Jane Marrelli and one that died at an early age, and two nephews, Dennis and Terry Raimond. Surviving at home is his loving wife, Gillie Deem Raimond. He also leaves two stepdaughters, Kellie Nicholson, of Sherman Oaks, Calif. and Denise (Kurt) Deem/Benson, of Laramie, Wy. and one grandson, Max Benson; a daughter, Kimberly Raimond, two nephews, Chris and Frank Raimond and two nieces, Janet Bell and Marcie Raimond also survive. Jim’s brother-in-law, the Reverend Dr. Vernon C. Morse will officiate services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, in the Arner Funeral Chapel, 607 Carolina Ave., Chester, where friends may visit on Friday from 12-3, 5-8 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to: condolences@arnerfuneralchapel.com.
