Holiday 'Lunch, Learn &?Laugh' announced
Caroline Magnone and Robin Nogay, "The CaterHers," in conjunction with Belmonte's Pizza, announce their Holiday "Lunch, Learn &?Laugh" cooking program, "A?Holiday Hors d'oeuvre Party," from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 7.
A?special holiday celebration at the Nogay home includes instruction and preparation techniques for easy appetizers that you can do in your own kitchen, as well as tasting the prepared menu with a glass of holiday punch.
The appetizer menu includes Filet Mignon with Merlot Cream Sauce, Walnut Salad with Gorgonzola and Pears Mounded on Crisp Endive; Pinwheels Filled with Sauteed Peppers, Onions and Provolone Cheese, Chocolate and Vanilla Mousse Cups Drizzled with Bailey's Liquor and more.
One of the fall "Lunch, Learn &?Laugh"?menu items, Sweet Potato Gnocchi in a Butter Sage Sauce, was the runner-up, prize-winning recipe in The Weirton Daily Times/Herald-Star Holiday Cookbook Contest.

Simmons celebrates 100th birthday
Dora Simmons, a resident at Sienna Woods Retirement Community in Wintersville, celebrates her 100th birthday today.
The area's newest centenarian formerly lived on Hooverson Heights in Follansbee and belongs to the Colliers United Methodist Church.
Simmons sang with the Rambling Roses Senior Group for many years. In her spare time she enjoys sewing, crocheting and doing different craft projects.
Weir Parent Group notes correction
To members of the Weir High School 2010 Parent Group: There is a correction concerning the order and payment due date for the "Applelicious Apples" fundraiser.
The order form states Dec 4 for the order deadline; the correct deadline is Tuesday. The delivery date remains the same Dec 14.
Fundraiser chairmen apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
