Camera club presents top awards

WEIRTON - The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club held its annual awards banquet at Gio's Restaurant.

2009 Photographers of the Year awards were presented for prints and slides.

Print winners were Don Roberts, first; Diane Rojak Bannister, second; and Anissa Wellington, third. Slide winners were Ruth Bovalina, first; Andy Tindor, second; and Claudia Norris, third.

The top photographers are determined from a 10-month competition season with three categories to enter in slides and prints of open, topic of the month and special effects. Those who earn the most points are named award winners.

Club service awards were presented by Roeda Moore, president. Recipients included Margaret Powley, for 15 years of service as club treasurer and for other contributions; Judy Whiting, secretary for several years; Barb Momyer, competition chairman for two years; and Bovalina for club workshops that included still-life stations and special effects techniques. The club was established in 1974 and meets at Sargus Hall in Wintersville.
