Local camera club holds annual banquet

The annual Awards Banquet of the Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club was held in the banquet room at Gio's Restaurant in Weirton.

The 2009 Photographers of the Year awards were presented for prints and slides.

Print Photographers of the Year are Don Roberts, first place; Diane Rojak Bannister, second place; and Anissa Wellington, third place.

Slide Photographers of the Year are Ruth Bovalina, first place; Andy Tindor, second place; and Claudia Norris, third place.

Photographers of the Year are determined at the end of a 10-month competition season in three catagories:?Open, Topic of the Month and Special Effects. Those who earn the most points during the season are named winners.

Club service awards were also presented by President Roeda Moore. Recipients included Margarte Powley for 15 years of service as club treasurer; Judy Whiting for serving as the secretary for the past few years; Barb Momyer for her job as competition chairperson for the last two years; and Bovalina for presenting unique workshops, including those on still-life and special effects techniques.

The Upper Ohio Valley Camera club was established in 1974 and meets at Sargus Hall in?Wintersville two times a month.
