Country Friends cancel event
Because of a scheduling conflict, the Country Friends has cancelled its Friday meeting normally held at the Weirton Masonic Complex. The cancellation is for one meeting only.
Country Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Christianity, friendship and brotherly love through music. All proceeds go to charity.

Library to screen film
The Brooke County Public Library will be showing the film "Angels and Demons," on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Based on the novel by Dan Brown, the PG- 13-rated film involves symbolist Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks, must solve a murder mystery to unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave.

'Breakfast with Santa' to be held
The Bethany College Senior and Junior Class Councils will be hosting a Breakfast with Santa Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethany Memorial Church.
The menu will consist of pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee and juice. The cost is $3 for Bethany students, $5 for adults, and $3 for children 12 and under.
A drawing will be held for various prizes, including Visa gift cards and gift certificates.
There will also be a children's crafts station for $2, and children may visit with Santa at no cost.
Church to host Christmas concert
The Music Department of Grove United Presbyterian Church is presenting "Home for the Holidays," a Christmas concert on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
The concert will include the Chancel Choir, the Glory Hill Ringers, the Junior Jinglers and the Kitchen Band.
There also will be carol singing with the congregation and homemade cookies.
Everyone is welcome. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken to assist the area food pantry.
Band, choir to present concert
The Wellsburg Middle School Band and Choir will present their Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school.
The program will include a variety of Christmas music, from "The First Noel" to "Jingle Bell Rock," solos and duets by the school's Castle Singers and a reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by state Sen. Jack Yost, D-Wellsburg, accompanied by the band.
Oak Glen Drama to present musical
The Drama Department of Oak Glen High School will present Jonathan Dorf's "High School (Non) Musical," a spoof of the original Disney hit movies. Curtain time is 8 p.m. for all performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Price of admission is $7, adults, $6, seniors and $5, students. Tickets are available at the door.
