James E.?McConaugheyDecember 8, 2009MCCONAUGHEY, James E., 78, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009, in Trinity West, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born April 8, 1931, in Atlasburg, Pa., son of the late Eldon McConaughey and Anna McCusker McConaughey. He married his wife, Ann Mis McConaughey, August 28, 1954 in Burgettstown, Pa. A 1950 graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown, Pa., he was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He received three purple hearts and a bronze star for his service. He completed training in metallurgy at the Weirton Trade and Industrial School. He then retired after 34 years of service as the assistant manager in the Strip Steel Department of the Weirton Division of National Steel Corp. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Dalverney, Irene Lukan, Vera Fleming and Delores Weyman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lori McConaughey of Pompano Beach, Fla.; son, James Patrick McConaughey (Robin) of Myersville, Md.; sister, Bernice Salem of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; cousin, James Gecoma of Cherry Valley, Pa.; grandchildren, Bradley Jacob Lawson (Ashlee), Matthew Patrick McConaughey and Grant Thomas McConaughey; and one great-grandchild, Brice Charles Lawson. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, W.Va. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Weirton. Full military honors will be conducted by the Weirton V.F.W, Post No. 10 Honor Guard. Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown, Pa. |
