Floyd Cunningham

CUNNINGHAM, Floyd E., 85, of New Cumberland, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009.

Born March 27, 1924 in Chester, a son of the late Thomas and Stella (Rogers) Cunningham.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a retired shipping clerk from McIntosh Hemphill and was a member of the Chester American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Felitsky Cunningham.

He is survived by a daughter, Patty Swiger (Ray) of New Cumberland; a son, Michael Cunningham (Angela) of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Dawn Roach (Rick), Danielle Pine (Bill), Amanda Bruno and Michael Cunningham II; five great-grandchildren, Stone, Gianni, Edward, Mara and Rylee; a brother, Leonard Cunningham of Florida; and two sisters, Bernice Withrow of Georgia and Virginia Johnson of Florida.

A special thanks to the doctors and medical staff at Weirton Medical Center.

Calling hours will be held from 3-8 p.m. today at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, New Manchester, W.Va.; where the W.Va. National Honor Guard and the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord military honors.
