Talent show fundraiser making a returnJanuary 24, 2010 - From staff reportsArea students are encouraged to get their acts together and show off their talents. The second annual Kinsley S. Ard Memorial Talent Show will be held April 16 at 7 p.m. in Weir High Schools' Milton J. Weinberg Theatre. The program is open to participants from area schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. The talent show was first held in 2009, with all proceeds going toward the prom and senior events for the Weir High School Class of 2012. It is named in memory of Kinsley Ard, who was a member of the class. There will be a concession stand and auction featuring donations from local business owners. There will also be a 50/50 drawing for the Kinsley S. Ard Memorial Scholarship Fund. Those competing in the talent show also will have a chance to go home with something as cash prizes will be awarded to the top three places in each division. First place will receive $100, second will get $75 and third $50. Students will compete in the categories of Elementary/Grades K-4, Middle School/Grades 5-8 and High School/Grades 9-12. Organizers will accept only 20 entries in each category. To register a fee is required of $10 for a solo act, $15 for a duo and $20 for a group of three or more. Students also will be limited to participating in only one act, which can be no more than two minutes in length.
