Hope Players schedule auditions for "Joseph ..."

February 1, 2010

The Hope Players have scheduled auditions for their production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Auditions will be held from noon until 2 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday at Harrison Hopedale Elementary School.

The show will be directed by Hope Players executive director Andrew Pelegreen III, with musical direction by Judy Kuryn and choreography by Cerra Atkins and Jenna Johnson.

The musical will be performed at the school on April 30 and May 1 and 2.

Pelgreen said he hopes to assemble a cast of 75-100 people.

Kuryn said that those auditioning for major roles will be asked to prepare a song of their own choosing, and bring along the sheet music or a CD player for pre-recorded accompaniment. A pianist will be available to provide live accompaniment.

Pelegreen said that those trying out for "Joseph..." will read selections from the script. No preparation is needed for this part of the audition.

Actors involved in the play will be required to commit to rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and during the daytime on Saturdays. Final rehearsal schedules will be released after auditions.

Individuals are needed to work behind the scenes for the production. Anyone interested in lighting sound, stage managing, set design, set construction, set dressing, costume design and construction or concessions may come to auditions or contact Pelegreen at (740) 937-2629 or Hope Players President Donna Runt at (740) 937-2208.

The Hope Players is a nonprofit, family-friendly community theatre organization that is open to all area residents of all ages.

More information about the group is available at their Website, hopeplayers.org.
