Red Hats celebrate holidays

February 1, 2010
The Red Hat Sallies held its annual Christmas Party at Froehlich's Classic Corner in Steubenville. Carol Village donated six Red Hat dolls for door prizes and winners were Barbara Hixenbaugh, Ina Schappa, Wanda Wagner, Norma Yingst, Mary Crago and Karol Bable. During the previous club year, the Red Hat Sallies participated in several community service projects, including donating clothing, toys and personal hygiene products to The Lighthouse Domestic Violence Shelter; donating toys to the Pediatric Unit at Weirton Medical Center and to Comfort House; and donating non-perishable and canned food to The Salvation Army’s food pantry. During the holidays the Sallies “rang the bell” for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. A highlight of the group’s activities for 2009 was a train excursion. They have a very full schedule of activities and projects in place for 2010, with the first making baby blankets to donate. -- Contributed
