Charles Town project tests paving material

June 30, 2014
Associated Press

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Division of Highways is using a Charles Town project to test a new paving material.

Highways District Five engineer Lee Thorne says crews have paved the intersection of Patrick Henry Way and U.S. 340 with a polymer binder called SuperPave.

Thorne tells The Journal (http://bit.ly/1pE0Emw ) that an average 37,100 vehicles travel the intersection daily. The DOH has had to repave the intersection every two years.

Thorne says the DOH hopes that the new paving material will alleviate the need to repave the intersection so frequently.
