Weir High to present 'Anything Goes'

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Theater department, in cooperation with Tams-Witmark Music Library of New York, will present the Beaumont Theater version of the musical comedy "Anything Goes" Wednesday through Friday at the high school.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.

The musical is a love story on the luxury liner S.S. American in the late 1930's. There are handsome stockbrokers, sexy evangelist-turned night club singers, wealthy debutants, an English Lord, love-struck sailors, ministers and gangsters.

"Anything Goes" opened on Broadway in the Alvin Theater in 1935. The music and lyrics are by Cole Porter and the original book by Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay, Russel Crouse, Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. The musical features hit songs such as "Anything Goes," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "You're the Top" and several others.

Students are under the direction of Raymond Seifert, who assisted Rick Witkowski of Studio-L in preparing the music. The choreography was created by Allison Viakley, Rachel Bainbridge and Seifert.

The cast includes Allison Viakley as Reno, Kacie Crago as Hope, Rachel Bainbridge as Evangeline, Nick Campbell as Billy, Zach Brooks as Elisha, Ryan Crago as Moonface, Abbie Peters as Erma, Dustin Bailey as Lord Evelyn, Conner McCoy as the ship's captain, Ashley Brooks as the ship's purser, Kiara Candlelario and Courtney Baker as Chinese converts, Darry Gray as Rev. Dobson, Rachel Tretow, Alexis Hardrow, Caelen Crowley and Ella Jennings as Reno's Angels.

Additional cast members include: Jakob Hatley, Marissa Wetterau, Lanisha Anderson, Samantha Hayes, Christa Hamilton, Matteo Collett, Shane Livada, Abagail Crago, Lena Craig, Liz Eames, Brandon Chang, Melissa Fields, Kirsten Ward, Owen Pearson and Patrick McCoy.
