FOLLANSBEE - Hooverson Heights Church of Christ at 102 Church Avenue will present "40 Days in the Word," a program aimed at helping anyone to better understand The Bible and incorporate its message in their lives.
The six-week program will begin at 10:45 a.m. Sunday with the first of a series of encouraging messages by Dan Cooper, the church's pastor, followed by refreshments in the fellowship hall.

Elks holding dinners
WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801's Charity Committee will hold a community dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the club.
The menu includes Chicken Cordon Bleu, salad, carrots, potatoes and dessert. The cost is $12 per person. Proceeds benefit charity.

Bake, yard sales set this weekend
WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg 1st Ward Reunion Committee will hold a yard sale and bake sale at noon Saturday and Sunday at the 1st Ward's E.R. Nichols Park.
Proceeds will go to the second 1st Ward Reunion, which has been set for June 29-July 1 to coincide with the city's weeklong Independence Day celebration. Jerry Nichols, the committee's chairman, said the three-day event will include several bands, food, games, a Sunday worship service and other activities. Lions Club selling pulled pork
NEW CUMBERLAND - The New Cumberland Lions Club will sell their "famous" pulled pork sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 25 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 26 at the Firemen's Field Pavilion during the annual Moto Guzzi rally.
The pork sandwich costs $5 and smoked chicken halves will be available May 26 only at $5.50. Both also are available as dinners with baked beans and potato salad or coleslaw. The pork dinner is $6.50 and the chicken dinner is $7.
