Joseph DuBois, a member of Boy Scout Troop 401 chartered by Holy Family Church in Steubenville, has completed an Eagle Scout project to benefit the Samaritan House Thrift Store in downtown Steubenville.
The thrift store is run by the TOR Sisters to help those in need of food and clothing in the Steubenville area.
DuBois, who will be a senior at Steubenville High School, is the son of Ron and Marianne DuBois. He designed and built a donation drop box for Samaritan House, enabling people to have a place to leave donations when the Samaritan House is closed.
DuBois organized and led volunteers in building the drop box, which is now located behind Samaritan House on 424 Washington St., Steubenville.
A sign has been placed in the Diocese of Steubenville's parking lot on North Fifth Street, directing those who would like to leave donations to the drop box area at the back of the building.
Samaritan House relies on donations to be able to help those in need. They receive food and clothing donations although other items such as dishes and furniture also are accepted. Their greatest need presently is for nonperishable items.
