WHETSELL, Mervin D., 77, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Point Marion Personal Care in Point Marion, PA with his family by his side.
Born on July 4, 1934, in Wellsburg, WV, he was a son of the late Ray and Gertrude (Beall) Whetsell.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Ann (Orban) Whetsell on Sept. 24, 2010; and a sister, Dorothy Jochimsen.
Mervin was a 1952 graduate of Wellsburg High School. He worked as a union carpenter out of Local 3 in Wheeling, WV for most of his working career.
He is survived by his three children, David L. (Lucinda) Whetsell of Weston, WV, Kimberly Metz of Wellsburg, WV, and Joanna (John) Wiley of Morgantown, WV; one sister, Bernice Miller of Realto, Cal.; one brother-in-law, Calmon D. "Butch" (Gretchen) Orban of Wellsburg, WV; one sister- in-law, Jackie DeMark of Wellsburg, WV; seven grandchildren; one great- granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 26, from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV with John Wiley, son-in-law officiating.
Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV.
