June 26, 2012
Weirton Daily Times

DELICH, George, 83, of Eldersville, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Weirton Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 10, 1929 in Steubenville, OH to late Helen Litwin Zakulec.

George served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific from 1946 to 1948.

On July 6, 1948, he married Anna May Dellenbaugh and for the past 37 years he and his wife have split their time between their family home in Eldersville, PA and their second home in Zephyrhills, FL.

For most of his adult life, George has been employed in the trucking industry and for well over 35 years until his retirement in the 1990's, he was the owner of his own trucking company. He was the previous owner of two farms and during that time he dabbled in the house racing business. He thoroughly enjoyed going to The Meadows racetrack to watch his horse's race, or sometimes to just go to the barns with his brother- in-law, Moe to talk with his trainers and drivers. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home and often fell off the beaten path on their way to Florida so they could stop in various states on their way to browse at the dealers of new luxury motor homes.

In addition to his mother, George is preceded in death by his youngest son, Michael Dwayne Delich, who passed away in 1973, a brother, Waynie Zakulec, and two nephews, Donald Dellenbaugh and "Little Moe" Dellenbaugh.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four caring children, John Delich, Diana (Boley) Mermon, both of Eldersville, PA, Patricia Troutman of Burgettstown, PA and Ronald Delich of Weirton, WV, two granddaughters, Kim and Christina Mermon, a grandson, Johnnie Delich and several nephews and cousins.

Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again on Thursday, June 28, from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at the James Funeral, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV with the Reverend Jerry Ernst, officiating.
