WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Health Department has announced the July clinic schedule.

The health department will be closed July 4 in observance of the holiday.

It is as follows:

10 a.m. July 2, by appointment, foodhandler's class.

8:30 a.m. to noon July 11, immunization and tuberculosis testing.

1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 11, blood pressure clinic.

8:30 a.m. to noon July 18, immunization and tuberculosis testing.

1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 18, blood pressure clinic.

8:30 a.m. to noon July 25, immunization and tuberculosis testing.

1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 25, blood pressure clinic.

Immunizations are given between 8:30 a.m. and noon every Wednesday. Those receiving immunizations should bring any previous immunization records with them to their appointment.

Parents are reminded that, beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, students entering the seventh grade and the 12th grade will need proof of vaccination before entering school. Seventh-graders need a TDAP booster vaccine, protecting against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough and a meningitis vaccine. Twelfth-graders must have a single dose of TDAP vaccine and a meningitis booster if the first meningitis vaccination was given before the child's 16th birthday. If the first meningitis vaccine was given after the 16th birthday, a booster is not required. Parents should contact their family physician and determine whether their child's vaccinations are current and meet the 2012-2013 school entry requirements.

Those children entering school in Brooke County for the first time this fall must have written proof of their vaccinations. Children must have immunizations against polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, rubeola and rubella. The health department can review a child's vaccination record to ensure the child meets the minimum vaccination requirements to enroll in a Brooke County school.

The health department offers vaccines to children 18 and under through the Vaccines for Children program. If a child is unable to receive vaccinations through a family physician, call the health department for eligibility information and an appointment at (304) 737-3665.

The health department also provides free pap smears and mammograms and sexually transmitted disease testing and pregnancy testing and supplies by appointment.

Contact the health department at (304) 737-3665 for information.
