WEIRTON - Dr. Patricia Murphy has only been in Weirton for a few months, but has been hard at work at Weirton Medical Center and is already looking to expand on the services her office provides

Murphy is an ear, nose and throat specialist who joined Weirton Medical Center approximately three months ago.

On Tuesday, Weirton Medical Center officials and Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce representatives came together to officially welcome Murphy to the community.

Having moved into her recently renovated office - located in Suite 307 of the hospital's Medical Office Building - only two weeks ago, Murphy and her staff spent part of Tuesday's grand opening meeting with residents and providing tours, showcasing some of what they do.

"We're a full-service ENT," Murphy explained.

With separate examination and treatment rooms based upon the type of service, Murphy's office can help with asthma and allergies, sinusitis, snoring or other breathing difficulties, tonsil or adenoid problems, hearing loss and even some skin problems.

The "ear room," for example will be for cleaning and treating ear infections or working with ear tubes, while the "nose room" will be used for those with sinus issues.

Murphy's office features a voice lab where she can check for problems with the vocal chords, and there is a carbon dioxide laser for skin work.

The office also has an allergy lab where they will be able to provide skin tests to check possible allergens, and even mix allergy medications.

"We'll be giving allergy shots as well," she said.

Murphy said in the future she also plans to set up a hearing center in the office, providing hearing tests and selling hearing aids for those who need them.

"I'll be here every day, on campus, Monday through Friday," she said.
