WEIRTON - The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting Aug. 7 at the knights' hall, with President Delores Bengier opening the meeting with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Auxiliary Pledge.
Secretary Mary Longhi read roll call and the June meeting minutes, which were approved as read. Sunshine Chair Olivia Oklok observed August birthdays, including Sondra Pennacchio, Armeda DiLorenzo and Mary Longhi. Members sang "Happy Birthday." Membership Chair Minnie Catignani said 2013 dues would be collected in October. Treasurer Sondra Pennacchio gave her report, and, as social chair, reported the next meeting would be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at Gio's Family Restaurant.
Bengier reported the July picnic was a success and suggested the Rev. Ron Getsinger say a Mass on the auxiliary's behalf in Jean Merenda's memory and that of all other deceased members.
A date will be selected, and members will be informed.
Ways and Means Chair Kay Doboski held a 50/50 drawing, which was won by Delores Bengier, who donated the money back to the club.
Bengier thanked hostesses Mary Spano, Olivia Oklok and Jeannette LaRosa, also assisted by LaRosa's granddaughter, Kristen.
Sondra Pennacchio, Donna DiAngelis and Elinor Straight will be October hostesses.
Getsinger closed the meeting with a prayer.
