CHESTER - The identities of those involved in a fatal accident Sunday near Chester have been released by the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.
According to information released by the sheriff's office Monday, Preston Andrews, 23, of Chester, was killed in the single-vehicle accident on Middle Run Road.
Injured in the accident were Gary Gamble, 22, of Chester; Nicholas McAvoy, 23, of New Cumberland; and Brent Higgins, 22, of Chester.
Higgins was driving the truck, according to the sheriff's office, while Gamble and McAvoy were riding in the bed of the truck.
According to previous reports, the four were in a pickup truck that overturned near the intersection of Middle Run Road and state Route 208 outside of Chester at approximately 2:27 a.m. Sunday.
Reports indicate Higgins told sheriff's deputies he was traveling westbound on Middle Run Road when he swerved to avoid a deer.
The truck reportedly sideswiped a guardrail on the driver's side, slid on its side and off the shoulder of the south side of the road before veering over the culvert, striking the passenger side and rolling over, coming to a rest on the driver's side.
Chester Police and the Lawrenceville and New Manchester volunteer fire departments also were on scene.
The accident remains under investigation, officials said.
