To the Editor,
On Aug. 24, Weir High opened up the new Jimmy Carey Stadium. This event was a culmination of nearly a year of planning. I am extremely proud of being the Weir High principal during this transition. There are many people to thank for their time, finances, efforts and commitment to Weir High School. Without the help of the following individuals or entities this event would not have been the success that it was.
Special thanks are extended to all of our Weir High School and Weir Middle School student-athletes and coaches who participated in our opening ceremonies. They will all be participating at this new multi-sports complex. They are boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, cross country, cheerleaders, band and football. Good luck to all of these young men and women. Thank you coaches for assisting.

The following business partners have made this transition a much easier road with their financial support. I want to extend a very special thank you to these businesses with the hope that they will be the school's partners for the long term: FACS Law, Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Mainstream Physical Therapy, Weirton Medical Center, Hancock County Savings Bank, Lyles Auto, First Choice Federal Credit Union, Project B.ES.T., Tri-State Medical Supply and the National Gold and Silver Refinery. These VIP sponsors and business partners are highlighted on our scoreboard and at the entrance to the stadium.
Weir High School especially thanks the residents of Hancock County who have made it possible for our students to enjoy this great facility for eras to come.
