Mingo pool an asset to seniors

To the editor:

Once again, our area senior citizens have enjoyed the outstanding facility of the Mingo Junction Aracoma Park's municipal park and swimming pool. The program of allowing seniors access to the pool every morning for the entire summer enhances our lifestyle and entertainment.

The availability of this fine facility provides a vital regimen, which contributes to our health, exercise, camaraderie and social engagement. We are most appreciative that the village administration endorses this program and welcomes our participation.

Our sincere gratitude to Mayor Ron DiCarlo, Village Administrator Frank Fuscardo and Village Council for their encouragement in keeping this program alive.

This year's pool manager, Terry Zane, added a new dimension to our amenities and enjoyment. New showers, renovated locker rooms, more benches, tents and umbrellas were added. We have benefited from an atmosphere that would rival any pool facility anywhere. The Aracoma Park swimming pool has become the core of the village and possibly the Ohio Valley. Visit the pool on a sunny morning. The atmosphere, the music, the clear blue heated water, the commodity, the exercise therapy, the social benefits, the blossoming friendships and many parties all lend to our comfort and overall pleasure. Every morning, we enjoy coffee, cookies, much conversation, exhilarating water therapy and friendship. You don't have to swim per se, just walking, conversing and refreshing in the water or at poolside is very satisfying.

The old adage "folks, it doesn't get any better than this" certainly applies here. This is senior living at its finest and guess what, you don't even have to leave home.

All in all, it was a great year under Zane's tutorage and we fully appreciate the value and good fortune in having one of the finest recreational programs and park in the Ohio Valley in our midst.
