To the Editor,
The Cassella family would like to thank Weirton Geriatric Center. From the administration office, housekeeping, maintenance, administrator and everyone in between and especially the Alzheimer's Unit where our mother lived for her last five years.
It is always very difficult having a loved one living outside one's home. There comes a time when family can no longer give the quality care needed for the safety and well being to ensure such care in our final years. After visiting you can feel assured your loved one will receive loving care.
Care facilities are regulated by state and federal laws, but you can't regulate loving care like we witnessed over the years. The Alzheimer's Unit, residents, visitors and staff is like one big family. We befriend and visit all residents, some may not have company for months. It's enlightening to see a big smile when entering the room because we are recognized as family.
Mom was surrounded by her children and adopted family (staff at the Alzeheimer's Unit) for her final days. Thank you Weirton Geriatric for showing our family compassion and love during this difficult time.
