School levy too costly

October 21, 2012

To the editor:

It is no surprise that the Indian Creek Local School District levy is back on the ballot.

As I read an information sheet, I felt sorry for those who are struggling to provide for their families and the senior citizens. Those under 65 would pay $12.63 a month and seniors would pay $9.47. Do you realize that amount might help pay for food on their table, a prescription or a heating bill instead of being spent on a $22 million bond (for a state-of-the-art school) that will burden you for 37 years?

Remember, voters, after the kids graduate and move out of the area, you'll still be paying for this facility for many years.

Folks, all this extra money is being wasted on upgrades to parking lots, renovations to a stadium and, get this, hiring an outside consultant to help get this levy passed.

Get serious, people, and read between the lines. A head tax is the way to go.

Please don't waste our money.
